TIOGA CENTER — Keon Staples got Tioga off to a fast start, and the Tigers pulled away over the final three quarters in a 54-34 win over Marathon here Tuesday night in their IAC junior varsity boys basketball season finale.
Staples scored 14 points in the first quarter, and Josh Reis knocked down a 3-pointer to fuel a 19-10 run in the first eight minutes.
Bryce Bailey canned a 3-pointer in the second quarter, and four of his teammates also found the scoring column as Tioga used a 12-8 spurt to extend its lead to 31-18 at the half.
Staples scored 11 points in the second half, including a 7-for-7 performance at the free-throw line, and Matt Watson added eight points as the Tigers continued to add to their lead.
Staples pumped in 27 points to lead Tioga, while Watson added 12 points, and Reis chipped in with seven.
Tioga finishes the season with a 9-10 record.
