TIOGA CENTER — Towanda took control of the game in the second quarter, and cruised to a 45-18 win over Tioga in its season finale here Wednesday evening in non-league girls basketball action.
Ashlyn Vance scored four points in the first quarter to help Tioga to a 6-4 lead after the first eight minutes, but Towanda’s Bella Hurley scored seven points in the second quarter and Destiny Brennan added a 3-pointer to fuel a 14-3 run that gave the junior Lady Black Knights an 18-9 lead at the half.
Grace Schoonover and Brennan combined for 11 points in the third quarter as Towanda used a 15-4 blitz to take a 33-14 lead into the final eight minutes.
Abby Foley led Tioga with eight points, eight rebounds, and one blocked shot, while Vance had seven points, nine rebounds, four steals, and one blocked shot, and Mariah NIchols hauled down 13 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass, and blocked one shot.
Gabby Foley added seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one blocked shot for the Lady Tigers, and Kyra Bailey grabbed six boards.
Brennan led Towanda with 12 points, while Schoonover had 10 points, Eliza Fowler added eight, and Hurley chipped in with seven.
Tioga finishes its season with a 10-9 record.
