NEW YORK STATE WRESTLING: WAVERLY'S STOTLER EARNS 11TH SEED IN 160-POUND BRACKET AT STATES (2020-02-24)
Valley Sports ReportALBANY - Waverly senior Ethan Stotler is the 11th seed in the 160-pound weight class at this weekend's New York State, Division 2 Championships here at the Times-Union Center.
Stotler (41-1), the Section IV champ, will square off with sixth-seeded Justin Smith (40-4), a senior from Marcus Whitman / Penn Yan, in the opening round.
Stotler's only loss of the season was a 9-0 decision to Pennfield junior Cooper Kropmann (38-0), who is the top-seeded Division 1 160-pounder this weekend. Stotler has won 37 consecutive matches.
Dolgeville junior Jacob Null, last year's state runner-up at 152 pounds, is the top seed, while Eden senior Giovanni Schifano (42-1) is the second seed, Onteora junior Pat Ross (35-3) is the third seed, and Putnam Valley junior Will Carano (29-5) is the fourth seed.
Action begins Friday morning at 10 a.m.
