Mariah Culver, a sophomore on the Caldwell University softball team, turned in two strong performances in the pitcher's circle before the season was canceled due to concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.
In her final appearance of the season, Culver was tagged with a tough-luck loss in a 1-0 decision against Kutztown on March 11. She allowed one run on five hits in a complex-game seven-inning effort. She stuck out two and walked none.
The day before, Culver pitched two shutout innings in a 4-1 win over Barry College. She allowed one hit and one walk ,while striking out two.
On the season, Culver 0-2 with one save, and a 4.54 ERA in a team-high 12.1 innings pitched. She struck out five, walked six, and opponents hit .224 against her.
Last year, Culver was 15-14 with two saves and a 2.53 ERA in 168 2/3 innings.
