THREE WAVERLY SENIORS HONORED ON ANNUAL 'TOP DRAWER 24' TEAM (April 17, 2020)

WAVERLY "" The Top Drawer 24 unveiled its 15th annual team Friday morning, and Waverly had three student-athletes - seniors Brandon Clark, Sheridan Talada, and Scott Woodring - honored in its first year as a member school.
"The Top Drawer 24 highlights scholar-athletes from a four-county region," said Waverly Superintendent of Schools Eric Knolles. "We are very grateful to be included in this year's program."
"Brandon Clark is a well-rounded scholar-athlete ranked number one in his class," said Knolles. "He's a three-sport athlete and a national champion quad racer."
Clark, Waverly's valedictorian, will attend Alfred University in the fall to study engineering.
"Sheridan Talada is a top 10 scholar-athlete, and one of the hardest-working kids and most-improved athlete over the last three years," said Knolles. "She is a state qualifier in multiple sports and a school record-holder in multiple events at Waverly."
Talada, Waverly's salutatorian, will attend Binghamton University in the fall on a track / cross country scholarship. She will study Physics and Chemistry with the intention to teach.
"Scott Woodring is a high end scholar-athlete," said Knolles. "He is a three-sport athlete, school leader and constant grinder, who rehabbed two knee injuries.
"He is also one of the nicest kids in Waverly High School," added Knolles.
Woodring will attend Mansfield University in the fall to pursue a degree in education and play basketball.
The Top Drawer program, which is presented annually by the Odessa File, continues to maintain tradition by considering anyone in grades 9 through 12 as eligible for consideration. However, no freshmen made the team this year, nor in the previous 13 years. While sophomores are occasionally represented, none was on the team the past five years, nor is one this year. Last year, there were two juniors on the team; this year there is only one.
