WAVERLY — Way behind schedule thanks to the restrictions put in place as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, Waverly Little League board members and volunteers started to get the field ready for the upcoming season over the weekend.
If New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo allows the final phases of re-opening the state to go off as planned, Waverly Little League practice will begin June 26, with Opening Day scheduled for July 11.
“(Saturday), we started the work of getting the fields and facility ready for the upcoming season, said Waverly LL board president Cory Robinson. “Board members and volunteers prepped the fields and performed general up keep.
“We were also assisted by Toby's Landscaping, who donated their time and equipment and mowed and weed-eated the entire facility.
“We are looking forward to being able to put on season for the local area kids,” added Robinson.
Registration, which is open to any area athlete, for the 2020 season is open until June 12th on the Waverly Little League Web site.
