AUTO RACING: WAVERLY'S BAILEY, SHAW FINISH 1-2 IN 4-CYLIDER FEATURE AT LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY (2020-06-27)

ERIE "” Waverly's Bryce Bailey and Waverly's D.J. Shaw finished 1-2 in the Race of Champions 4-Cylinder Division here Friday night at the Lake Erie Speedway.

Bailey slid underneath Shaw to take the lead as they took the white flag and held on for the win.

Shaw, a junior at Waverly,  was in third place, and Bailey, a sophomore at Tioga, was in fourth with six laps remaining. Following a re-start, Shaw needed two laps to work his way into the lead, and led for three laps, before Bailey took the lead for the final lap.

Bailey, 15, and Shaw, 16, were the youngest competitors in the race.

Sayre's Tyler Harbst finished 20th in the feature.

There were 24 cars in the feature, and 35 attempted to qualify.

Shaw and Bailey both won their respective heats. Shaw started in the sixth position in the feature, and Bailey started ninth.

Bailey's major sponsors are Max McLaughlin Racing and F.X. Caprara Honda, and Shaw's main sponsor is (Hemp Geek of Waverly). Harbst's major sponsors are Valley Auto Body and Kelly's Pit Stop.

All three Valley drivers will be in action again tonight at Lake Erie Speedway at 7 p.m.
