BINGHAMTON — Tioga grad Sam Taylor and Sayre grad Ryan Murrelle tied for third over the weekend at the annual three-day Triple Cities Golf Association Amateur Championship.
The event was played on three different courses — Friday at the Conklin Players Club, Saturday at En-Joie Golf Club, and Sunday at the Binghamton Country Club.
Taylor, who will play at Methodist University in the fall, shot a 72 in the opening round, and a 74 Saturday to holed a one-stroke lead over Oneonta grad Evan Sitts, who is playing collegiately at York College, and Hogan Bendert, a U-E grad playing collegiately at the University of Tampa.
Taylor shot a 77 Sunday and fell back into a third-place tie with Murrelle, who shot rounds of 76-73, and 74. Both had three-day totals of 223.
Sitts and Bendert each shot rounds of 72 on Sunday for three-day totals of 219. Sitts won the title in a playoff.
Tioga grad Adam Schumacher shook off an opening round of 79, and bounced back with rounds of 75 and 73 to finish tied for ninth with a three-day tally of 227.
