WAVERLY LITTLE LEAGUE: INDIANS POUND OUT 13-3 WIN OVER PIRATES (2020-07-21)

WAVERLY "” Hogan Shaw had a monster game at the plate, and pitched four strong innings to lead the Hemp Geek / Bradford Hospitality Indians to a 13-3 win over the New Image Pirates to remain unbeaten here Tuesday evening in Waverly Little League Majors Division baseball action.

The Indians led 9-0 after 2 1/2 innings and cruised to its fifth straight win.

Shaw stroked four singles, scored two runs, and collected seven RBI to lead the Indians' 11-hit attack, and Ben Shaw doubled and singled, scored three runs, and drove in three runs.

Griffin Walter doubled and singled, and Jerry Carnrike had a pair of hits in the win, while Avery Bowman singled and scored two runs, Jack Pipher scored four runs, and Nicholas Oakes scored two runs.

Shaw allowed one run on three hits, while striking out seven and walking one en route to the win. Walter relieved and allowed two runs on five hits, while striking out one and walking one in two innings.

Bryce Laforest rapped a pair of doubles and scored two runs, and Brendan Cooke doubled and singled, and drove in one run to pace the Pirates' offense.

Aiden Doherty cracked a solo home run for the Pirates, while Andrew Larrabee, Haley Larabee, and Rhylee Stotler each added a single.

The first-place Indians improved to a 5-0, while the Pirates fall to 2-3.

Up next: Cubs vs. Blue Jays, 6 p.m. Wednesday.
