Valley Sports Report
NORTH ROSE, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Falcons 14U travel baseball team, which features a trio of local players - Waverly's Jay Pipher and Ty Beeman, and S-VE's Kam Smith - went 2-1 over the weekend at the Empire State Battle here at Marshall Park.

Falcons 4, Academy Stars 1
The Falcons, based in Elmira Heights, scored one run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game, then pushed three runs across the plate in the seventh inning to top the Blasdell, NY-based Academy Stars, 4-1, in the opening game of the tournament Saturday morning.

Pipher worked a walk with one out in the top of the sixth inning. Two pitches later, Beeman's line drive to third base was snagged, but an errant throw to first base allowed pipher to advance to third base.

Pipher scored moments later on a double by Nate Levey to tie the game.

The Falcons scored their three runs in the seventh without the benefit of a hit, thanks to three walks and a pair of two-out errors.

Pipher was 0-for-2, but scored a run in the win, while Beeman was 0-for-2, and Smith was 0-for-1.

Grow2Pro 4, Falcons 1
Pipher tossed a one-hitter, but four errors proved costly for the Falcons in a 4-1 loss to the Rochester-based Grow2Pro Saturday night.

Pipher allowed four unearned runs in five innings, while striking out eight and walking one.

Beeman singled and drove in one run, and Pipher scored a run and had one RBI as part of the Falcons' two-hit attack.

The Falcons scored twice in the top of the fifth inning, but Grow2Pro answered with four runs in the home half of the frame.

Falcons 9, Team Valle 1
The Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 9-1 win over Rochester-based Team Valle Sunday morning.

Pipher singled twice, scored three runs, stole two bases, and drove in one run, and Beeman singled, scored one run, and had two RBI in the win.
