Parker Hendershot, a junior on the Penn State baseball team, was one of 144 Nittany Lion student-athletes to earn the distinction of Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year.
The list includes 26 students who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, and also shatters the previous school record of 117 set last year.
The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award is presented to student-athletes who have recorded a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher during the previous academic year.
Hendershot finished the abbreviated spring season with a .273 batting average (12 hits in 44 ABs) with 10 runs scored, one triple, one home run, and five RBI.
He had a perfect fielding percentage at first base, handling 57 defensive chances flawlessly.
