OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes 14U travel baseball team, which features a trio of local players - Waverly's Ty Beeman and Jay Pipher, and S-VE's Kam Smith - breezed into the finals, but dropped an 8-5 decision to Watkins Glen in the title game of the Northeast Summer Championship.

The Falcons outscored their opponents, 62-4, in its four games heading into the championship game.

POOL PLAY
Falcons 16, Syracuse Spartans 0
The Falcons poured nine runs across the plate in the top of the first inning en route to a 16-0 four-inning whitewashing of the Syracuse Spartans in the opening game of pool play last Saturday afternoon.

Pipher doubled and singled, scored three runs, stole a base, and drove in one run as part of the Falcons' 11-hit attack, while Beeman singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run. Kam Smith was 0-for-1 at the plate.

Falcons 11, Penfield (NY) Chiefs 3

The Falcons came out of the gate quickly again in an 11-3 win over the Penfield Chiefs in the second game of pool play Saturday afternoon.

Beeman doubled and scored one run in the win, and Smith scored one run, and knocked in one run. Pipher was 0-for-3 at the plate.

BRACKET PLAY
Quarterfinals
Falcons 10, Corning Elite 0

The Falcons dominance continued in bracket play with a 10-0 five-inning win over Corning Elite in the quarterfinals Sunday afternoon.

Once again, the Falcons put the game away early with four runs in the home half of the first inning, and six more in the second.

Pipher singled, scored two runs, stole one base, and had two RBI as part of the Falcons' seven-hit attack, and Beeman scored one run, and had two RBI. Smith was 0-for-1 at the plate.

Semifinals
Falcons 25, Fulton (NY) Fury 1

The Falcons' offensive crescendo hit its peak in the semifinals in a 25-1 four-inning romp over the Fulton Fury Sunday afternoon.

Pipher stroked three singles, scored two runs, stole one base, and had two RBI, and Beeman doubled and singled, scored two runs, and had three RBI in the Falcons' 19-hit attack. Smith scored one run in the win.

Alex Daugherty was 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and three RBI for the Falcons, while Dominick Russ was 3-for-3 with two home runs, four runs scored, and three RBI, and Nate Levey added a two-run home run.

Championship Game
Watkins Glen 8, Falcons 5

The Falcons run came to an end in the championship game, thanks in large part to an uncharacteristically sloppy performance on defense in an 8-5 loss to Watkins Glen.

The Falcons committed seven errors, resulting in five unearned runs in the loss.

Beeman singled and scored in the loss, while Pipher was 0-for-3 at the plate.

The Falcons are 14-3 this summer.
