ELMIRA "” After finishing second in its each of its last two tournaments, the Finger Lakes Falcons 14U travel baseball team - featuring a trio of local players in Waverly's Jay Pipher and Ty Beeman, and S-VE's Kam Smith - broke through to win its final event of the summer, the Dunn Classic here over the weekend at Dunn Field.

The Falcons went 5-0 over the weekend, including a 3-0 mark in pool play to earn the top seed in bracket play.

Pool Play
Falcons 6, Southern Tier All-Stars 2

The Falcons set the tone with four runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 6-2 win over the Southern Tier Al-Stars in the opening game of pool play Saturday morning.

Pipher singled twice and scored two runs, and Beeman singled, scored one run, and had two RBI in the Falcons' seven-hit attack. Smith was 0-for-2.

Falcons 4, Elite Baseball 3
Beeman delivered a two-RBI walk-off single in he bottom of the sixth inningg to lift the Falcons to a 4-3 win over Elite Baseball Saturday afternoon.

Pipher singled, scored one run, stole one base, and drove in one run, and Beeman singled and knocked in one run. Smith was 0-for-2.

Pipher started on the mound for the Falcons, striking out three and walking one in three no-hit innings of work.

The Falcons, trailing 3-2, loaded the bases on a walk and two singles in the home half of the sixth. With Pipher at the plate, the tying run scampered home on a passed ball.

After Pipher worked a walk, Beeman lined an 0-2 pitch into left field to win the game.

Falcons 15, High Heat 3
The Falcons banged out 15 hits on its way to a 15-3 five-inning win over High Heat Saturday afternoon in the final game of pool play.

Smith singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run, while Pipher doubled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, and Beeman singled, stole one base, and scored two runs.

The Falcons scored four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead, then scored five runs in the fourth and fifth innings to extend the lead to 15-0.

Bracket Play
Semifinals
Falcons 4, Corning Elite 2

The Falcons built an early 4-0 lead, and held on for a 4-2 win over Corning Elite Sunday morning in the semifinals of the Dunn Classic.

Beeman singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, and Pipher scored one run in the Falcons' six-hit attack. Smith was 0-for-2.

Championship Game
Falcons 11, Elite Baseball

The Falcons scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to rely for an 11-6 winner Elite Baseball in the championship game of the Dunn Classic Sunday afternoon.

Beeman singled twice, scored one run, and had three RBI, and Pipher doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run in the Falcons' 14-hit barrage. Smith was 0-for-2.

Smith pitched the final two innings of the win, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out one.
