NTL GOLF: NP-M OVERPOWERS FIELD AGAIN; SAYRE FINISHES THIRD, ATHENS FIFTH AT COREY CREEK

MANSFIELD — North Penn-Mansfield once again easily topped the field in the second NTL golf match of the season, while Sayre finished third, and Athens fifth here Tuesday afternoon at Corey Creek Golf Course.
The Tigers shot a four-player aggregate score of 342, besting runner-up Wellsboro (379) by 37 strokes.
The Redskins finished third with 393 strokes, while Cowanesque Valley was fourth with 400, the Wildcats were fifth at 406, Wyalusing was sixth at 408, and Towanda was seventh at 426.
Wellsboro senior Brock Hamblin won low-medal honors with an 81, edging out runner-up, North Penn-Mansfield sophomore Andrew Green, by one stroke. CV senior Joel Heck, and NP-Mansfield seniors Reece White and Ethan Weiskopff tied for third with rounds of 84.
Sayre junior Kannon VanDuzer finished sixth with an 86, despite carding a 10 on the par-5 fifth hole. VanDuzer bounced back with a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole, and also birdied the par-5 15th hole.
Athens sophomore Carson Smith finished seventh with an 89.
Sayre sophomore Colton Watkins, Athens senior Carter Jones, and Athens sophomore Lucas Kraft each finished in the top 20. Watkins carded a 97 to finish 14th, while Jones was 15th with a 98, and Kraft was 19th with a 102.
Sayre seniors Zach Moore and Torry Stark tied for 21st with rounds of 105, junior Dylan Seck tacked on a 107.
Senior Luke Jones added a 117 for the Wildcats, and freshman Nicholas Jacob tacked on a 124.
Athens senior Harley Sullivan shot a nine-hole score of 53 in exhibition, and Athens freshman Evan Cooper had a 63. Sayre senior Travis Wibirt carded a 68.
NTL golfers return to action Sept. 15 at the River Valley Golf Club in Westfield, Pa.
