TOWANDA — The Athens boys went 1-2-3 as they, and the Lady 'Cats, defeated Towanda here Tuesday in NTL cross country action.

The Wildcat boys won 17-44 and the girls' won 24-32.

Athens' Kyle Anthony (18:57), Matt Gorsline (18:59) and Connor Dahl (19:04) took the top three spots as they ran the race together. Anthony's time is a course record since Towanda is trying out a new course.

Towanda's Jaden Wise (20:56) was fourth with Athens' Ethan Denlinger (21:03) and Justin Lynch (21:05) were fifth and sixth. Towanda's Eric McGee (21:21) was seventh while Athens took the next three spots: Sander Bertsch (22:12), Nate Pickett (21:39) and Brenden Jones (22:46).

Rounding out Towanda's top five were Luke Tavani (23:02) in 11th, Nate Spencer (23:33) in 14th and Rein Alderfer (24:50) in 16th.

On the girls' side Athens' Emma Bronson (23:46) set the course record in her win with Towanda's Eliza Fowler (26:36) second.

Athens took the next three spots with Thea Bentley (28:09), Caitlyn Conklin (29:59) and Emily Henderson (30:17).

Towanda rounded out the top 10 with Kendra Schaffer (30:33), Jill Packard (31:05), Taylor Brennan (31:25), Maddy Nonnemaker (31:44) and Grace Carter (33:45).

Athens' fifth was Abby Pickett (35:48) in 11th.

In junior high Athens won both races. The boys won 22-35 and the girls won 26-30.

Wildcat Carter Lewis (11:45) won the boys' race while Lady 'Cat Sara Bronson (12:00) won the girls' race.
