Valley Sports Report
ATHENS "” Athens has played its annual Pink Game each year since 2012 to honor former Lady Wildcat standout Sarah Reid, who was killed in a car accident that fall.

They are now 9-0 in those games, but Thursday's win may be the most special yet, as Norah Reid - Sara's youngest sister - netted a hat trick to help Athens to a 10-4 win over Northeast Bradford in NTL girls soccer action at Alumni Stadium.

"It was another great "˜pink out game' in honor of Sarah Reid," said Athens coach Rich Pitts. "And, it was a huge night for the Reid family - Norah scored a hat trick to top it off with the entire family in attendance to see her."

Athens scored early and often, racing out to an 8-1 halftime lead. Reid and senior Emma Roe each scored three goals before the intermission, while Hannah Walker and Hannah Blackman each had one goal.

Roe, who also had three assists, scored her fourth goal of the game in the second half, and Hannah Walker added her second goal of the contest.

Sophomore Ally Thoman dished out two assists in the win.

Athens had a 19-5 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.

Athens, now 3-0-1, hosts Wyalusing Friday at 5 p.m.
