THE WEEK AHEAD: ATHENS BOYS SOCCER, FOOTBALL HEADLINES WEEK OF ACTION (2020-10-11)

THE VALLEY — A big boys soccer game at Athens Tuesday, and three football games, including two at Athens, highlight a busy week of action in the Valley.

The Athens boys host unbeaten Wellsboro on the soccer pitch Tuesday, while the Wildcat football team hosts NTL Large School foe Canton Monday, and Small School power South Williamsport Saturday.

The regular season is winding down as the golf season finished up last week, and the cross country season hits the postseason Saturday with the NTL Coaches Invitational.

There are 21 events on the schedule this week, including six on Tuesday and five on Saturday. Athens has eight home events this week, while Sayre has just two.

The following are some, not all, of this week’s top events:

MONDAY (3)
•  Athens football hosts Canton in its second edition of Monday Night Football in a row.

TUESDAY (6)
•  The Athens boys host unbeaten Wellsboro in a key NTL soccer match-up.

•  Athens volleyball hosts Wellsboro in s battle of two of the top teams in the Large School Division.

•  Sayre volleyball hosts NTL Small School rival Williamson.

•  Athens hosts NEB and NP-M in cross country action at Round Top.

WEDNESDAY (2)

•  The Athens girls travel to the county seat to take on Large School rival Towanda, while the Sayre girls travel to Wyalusing.

THURSDAY (4)
•  The Athens boys host Troy on the soccer pitch at Alumni Stadium.

•  Athens volleyball hosts Large School powerhouse NP-Liberty.

•  Sayre volleyball hosts Small School power Canton.

FRIDAY (1)
•  Sayre football is on the road at Large School foe North Penn.

SATURDAY (5)
•  The Athens and Sayre harriers will be in action at the NTL Coaches Invite at NEB.

•  Athens football hosts South Williamsport in its second game of the week.

•  The Athens girls host Troy on the pitch at Alumni Stadium.
