SAYRE — Two-time defending NTL Small School champ Canton swept Sayre here Thursday night in a rare NTL volleyball doubleheader.

The Lady Warriors won the first match by scores of 25-7, 25-5, and 25-14, then won the second match by scores of 25-12, 25-16, and 25-11.

In the opening match,  Elizabeth Boyle: had six assists, three kills, and two digs to lead Sayre, while Maddison Belles had four digs, three assists, and one block, and Gabby Randall recorded five kills and one block.

Rachel Vandermark had five digs and two aces for Sayre, while Gianna Quattrini added three blocks, and Brelin VanDuzer chipped in with three digs.

In the second match, Vandermark had five digs, and Boyle had five setter assists to lead Sayre, while Randall registered four kills, and Gabby Shaw and Quattrini each had three kills.

Alex Frisbie had three digs and two service aces for the Lady Redskins, and Emma Smith chipped in with two assists and two digs.

Jillian Shay had 18 points, including 12 aces, to lead Canton on the night, while Annie Gaiotti had 12 points (five aces), four kills, and three digs, Gracie Covert had 10 points (six aces), and four kills, and Allyson Butcher added six points.

Sayre, now 0-9, returns to action Saturday at NEB.
