TOP 7 FALL FEMALE ATHLETES: GAIOTTI'S PLAY AND LEADERSHIP KEY FOR CANTON'S SUCCESS (2020-12-13)

performances throughout the unusual Fall Sports season with several top
performers in girls' sports.
7. Hannah Ryck, Towanda
Ryck
went 8-1 in the NTL at first singles, the best record in the league, to
lead the Knights to the NTL title. She made quick work of her opponent
in their District Team match against Montgomery and reached the District
IV singles quarterfinals, losing to the second seed.
6. Emma Bronson, Athens
Bronson
was the NTL Runner of the Year, coming out of a competitive group
thanks to her consistency. She won the NTL Invitational and had the
fastest time of any NTL runner at the District IV Championships.
5. Hunter McClellan, Troy
McClellan
played all over the pitch for the Trojans this past season, going
wherever her team needed her. She nabbed her 100th career goal in the
first match of the season and was instrumental in Troy's strong finish
to the season when they went 4-1 after coming back from quarantine.
4. Emmi Ward, Troy
Ward
was the top defender in the NTL as the Trojans only allowed four goals
in eight games when she was on the pitch, two of those coming in a
district loss to Montoursville. She was one of the two All-State members
for 2020 from the NTL.
3. Emily Susanj, NEB
Susanj
was a walking stat line for the Panthers as she helped lead them to one
of their best volleyball seasons in school history. She finished with
229 kills, 133 points, 55 blocks and 236 digs in her final season.
2. Emma Roe, Athens
The
Division-I bound Roe continued to be one of the top players in the NTL
this season as she ran the team's offense and had several key goals,
including their lone score in their 1-0 win at Troy. She was the other
NTL All-State player and finished with 19 goals and eight assists.
1. Annie Gaiotti, Canton
Gaiotti
was Canton's all-around star on the volleyball court, finishing with 92
kills and 82 digs, showing up in the big matches of the season. That
was only half of what she did as her leadership, alongside her fellow
seniors, was key for the Warriors to survive a 3-week quarantine and
come back to win their fourth straight District IV title.
