THE VALLEY - The annual Jarvis Tournament, and the Waverly Tri-Meet highlight Saturday's docket.

The Athens wrestlers host a six-team field at the Jarvis Tournament, while the Waverly boys swim team hosts a pair of Section IV swim powers.

WRESTLING
Athens HOSTS Jarvis Tournament, 10 a.m.:
The Jarvis Tournament field has been thinned by Covid cases at Canton,which led to the Warriors withdrawing from the tournament Thursday.

The current field is Benton, Mifflinburg, Sayre, Towanda, Williamson, and the host Wildcats.

The tournament features three 2020 PIAA place-finishers: Athens junior Gavin Bradley (7th at 113 pounds), Mifflinburg senior Gabe Gramly (8th at 126 pounds), Benton junior Nolan Lear (5th at 160).

It also features a number of returning state qualifiers: Benton sophomore Ethan Kolb, seniors Zach Poust and Gable Strickland, and junior Caden Temple, and Mifflinburg sophomore Emmanuel Ulrich

The tournament also features a pair of returning Northeast Regional qualifiers: Mifflinburg junior Troy Bingaman, and Towanda senior Clay Watkins.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Athens (5-1 overall, 4-0 NTL) at Troy (2-3, 2-2), noon varsity start:
The Wildcats are coming off a 62-23 romp over Williamson, while the Lady Trojans topped arch-rival Canton, 37-16.

Athens is tied with Towanda atop the Large School standings, with Troy 2 games back.

BOYS SWIMMING
Wolverine Tri-Meet, 9 a.m. diving, 2 p.m. swimming: 
Waverly hosts non-league powers Corning and Maine-Endwell in a tri-meet.

This was originally scheduled to be the annual Waverly Invitational, but Covid concerns has led to this becoming a tri-meet.
