NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: SAYRE CAN'T SUSTAIN HOT START; FALLS, 54-40, AT NP-MANSFIELD (2021-02-17)

Valley Sports Report
MANSFIELD — Sayre went stone cold from the field after a hot start, and North Penn-Mansfield rallied for a 54-40 win over Sayre here Wednesday night in NTL boys basketball action.

Junior Dom Fabbri canned four 3-pointers in the first quarter for the Redskins, and senior Zach Moore added four points as they built a 20-13 lead after the first eight minutes.

Moore knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter, but sophomore Luke Horton scored Sayre’s only other bucket of the stanza, while NP-M’s Eli Shaw scored seven points, Alex Stein drained a pair of 3-pointers, and Curtis Craig added five points in a 22-8 run that put the Tigers ahead 35-28 at the half.

Neither team could find the range in the third quarter, sending the game into the final stanza at 42-35.

The Tigers made just 8 of 14 free-throw attempts, but it was more than enough as they limited the Redskins to just five points in the final eight minutes.

Fabbri led Sayre with 14 points, while Moore added 10, and sophomore Jackson Hubbard chipped in with five.

Stein and Craig led a balanced NP-M offense with 10 points apiece, while Shaw scored nine, Sam Lawrence had eight, Brody Burleigh had six, Jake Evans added five, and Karson Dominick chipped in with four.

Sayre, now 3-10, hosts Williamson Saturday at 1 p.m.
