SAYRE "” Sayre closed out the first quarter with a 17-2 blitz, and cruised to a 65-27 win over Williamson here Saturday afternoon in NTL Small School Division boys basketball action.

The Redskins, who snapped a five-game losing streak with the win, pumped in 13 3-pointers, including five by senior Zach Moore and three by junior Josh Arnold.

With the scored tied at 4-4 midway through the first quarter, junior Dom Fabbri buried a 3-pointer to give the Redskins a 7-4 lead.

Arnold canned two 3-pointers, senior Matt Lane made one 3-pointer, and Fabbri made two free throws and another 3-pointer to finish off the rally, and put Sayre up 21-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Redskin offense continued at high-speed in the second quarter. Moore connected on a pair of 3-pointers, while sophomore Jackson Hubbard and Fabbri scored four points apiece, and Arnold drained his third trey of the first half to fuel a 21-7 run that gave the Redskins a 42-13 lead at the break.

Moore knocked down two more 3-pointers in the third quarter, while Hubbard scored five points, and Lane canned a 3-pointer in a 14-6 run that upped Sayre's advantage to 56-19 entering the final eight minutes.

Moore led Sayre with 15 points, while Fabbri scored 12, Hubbard had 10 points, Arnold had nine, Lane added eight and senior Connor Young and junior Kannon VanDuzer chipped in with five and four points, respectively.

Tristan Parker and Jacob Schmitt led Williamson with nine points apiece.

Sayre returns to action Monday when it hosts Canton.
