Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY "” The regular-season basketball schedule in Pa. wraps up this week, while basketball and wrestling in the IAC kick into high gear.
The Waverly, Sayre, and Athens boys, as well as the Athens girls play all play four games this week, while the Tioga and Waverly wrestlers each have three dual matches.
There are 32 events on the schedule this week, including nine on Saturday and seven on Thursday.
The following are some, not all, of this week's events:
MONDAY (3)"¢ The Sayre boys host Canton in an NTL Small School basketball match-up.
"¢ The Athens girls host Wyalusing in a key NTL Large School basketball contest.
TUESDAY (4)"¢ The Tioga boys host Waverly, while the Lady Wolverines host the Lady Tigers on the hardwoods.
"¢ The Athens boys host Sayre in their second basketball match-up of the season.
"¢ Athens hosts the NTL Swimming & Diving Championships.
WEDNESDAY (4)"¢ The Athens girls host division-leading Towanda in NTL Large School basketball action.
"¢ The Waverly boys host Newark Valley in a make-up game from last week.
"¢ The Tioga wrestlers take on Newark Valley and Thomas A. Edison, at Edison, in a triangular meet.
THURSDAY (7) "¢ The Lady Wildcats host North Penn-Mansfield in NTL Large School girls basketball action.
"¢ The Waverly boys compete in the virtual Section IV Swimming & Diving Championships.
"¢ The Waverly girls host Horseheads in a non-league basketball contest.
"¢ The Tioga boys host Newark Valley, while the Lady Tigers hit the road for NV.
FRIDAY (4) "¢ Waverly hosts Elmira in a non-league wrestling match-up.
"¢ The Athens girls host Canton in their fourth home game of the week, and its regular-season finale.
SATURDAY (9)"¢ Athens junior Gavin Bradley is in action at the PIAA Northeast Region championships.
"¢ Waverly hosts SVEC and Corning in a triangular wrestling match.
"¢ The Waverly boys and girls travel to Elmira for non-league hoop action.
"¢ The Sayre boys host NEB in the regular-season finale.
"¢ The Tioga wrestlers host Elmira in a non-league match.
"¢ The Tioga boys are on the road at NV, while the Lady Tigers host the Lady Cardinals.
