THE VALLEY "” The New York "fall" season begins its final week today, while Mother Nature threatens its first rain outs of the Pa. spring season.

If the rains hold off, it will be a very busy Monday, with nine different events in six different sports.


BASEBALL
Williamson (1-1, 0-1)  at Sayre (3-0, 1-0), 4:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off a 15-3 win over South Williamsport Friday, while the Warriors rolled over Bucktail, 22-1.

Athens (4-2, 3-0 NTL Large) at Wellsboro (2-2, 2-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 14-9 win over Troy Wednesday, while the Green Hornets dropped a 6-2 decision to Shikellamy Friday.

Athens has won three in a row.

SOFTBALL
Williamson (1-4, 0-0 NTL Small) at Sayre (0-3, 0-1), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Redskins are coming off a 24-0 loss to Wyalusing Friday, while the Lady Warriors were blanked by Bucktail, 10-0, on Saturday.

Athens (6-0, 3-0 NTL Large) at Wellsboro (2-1, 1-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Wildcats are coming off an 18-9 win over Troy Wednesday, while the Lady Green Hornets dropped a 12-8 decision to North Penn-Liberty.

Athens is averaging 14.5 runs per game in its six wins.

GIRLS SOCCER
Notre Dame at Waverly (3-2), 5:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines have been off since a 2-1 loss at Notre Dame last Monday.

Waverly has dropped two in a row.

Tioga (1-1-1) at Newfield, 5:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers have been off for three weeks, since a 3-3 tie at home with Newfield.

VOLLEYBALL
Tioga (6-2), 5-1 IAC Small) at Candor (7-1, 6-0 IAC Small), 5:30 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Waverly Friday, while the Lady Indians swept North powerhouse Trumansburg.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Watkins Glen (2-3) at Waverly (3-1), 5:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines have been off since a 93-87 loss to Lansing on March 30, while the Lady Senecas are coming off back-to-back wins over Whitney Point and Elmira.

FIELD HOCKEY
Marathon at Tioga (0-4), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 6-0 loss to Moravia on March 29.

In their first meeting, Marathon won the season-opener, 1-0, on March 17.
