ALFRED "” Athens grad Megan Bennett, a freshman on the Alfred University softball team, pitched a three-hit shutout here Sunday to lead the Lady Saxons to a 1-0 win over Elmira College in Empire 8 softball action.

Bennett scattered three singles over seven innings, while striking out nine and walking none. She threw 101 pitches.

On the season, Bennett is 4-1 with a 2.76 ERA. She has fanned 38 and walked just five in 38 innings of work.

Alfred, 14-5 on the season, hosts Keuka College in a twinbill today.
