SAYRE LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): JOHNNY D'S TOPS LANDY & ROSSETTIE ON OPENING DAY (2021-04-26)

SAYRE "” Johnny D's overcame an early deficit and rolled to a 20-6 four-inning win over Landy & Rossettie here Saturday in the opening game of the Sayre Little League Majors Division baseball season at Riverfront Park.

Landy & Rossettie scored three runs in the top of the first inning, but Johnny D's answered with five runs int he home half of the inning, and six more in the second inning to take an 11-3 lead.

After L&R scored three runs in the top of the third, Johnny D's put the game away with three runs in the home half, and six more in the fourth inning.

Brenden Cook had three hits, including a triple and a double, three runs scored, and three RBI, and Nolan Raupers stroked three singled, scored four runs, and drove in one run to pace Johnny D's 14-hit attack.

Jordan Brown and Justin Koenig each doubled and singled, scored two runs, and had three RBI in the win, while Brady Flynn singled twice, scored two runs and drove in three runs, Treyton Barrett singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and Brayden Northrup singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run.

Riley McGaughey and Dillon Swartzlander each scored a run and knocked in a run for Johnny D's, and Charlie Salsman crossed the plate once.

Cooke (seven strikeouts) and Flynn (four) shared the mound duties for Johnny D's and combined to fan 11.

Ahren McCarthy doubled and singled, scored one run and had three RBI to lead Landy & Rossettie at the plate, while Chase Wheeler tripled and scored two runs, Cam Ross doubled, Cy Yeager scored two runs, and Shaine Strickland scored once.

Strickland pitched for L&R and recorded seven strikeouts.
