SAYRE — North Penn-Liberty scored in every inning, including a nine-run outburst in the fourth inning, in a 22-3 win over Sayre here Wednesday afternoon in NTL softball action at Riverfront Park.

The Lady Mountaineers built a 13-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings.

Madison Smith ripped a line-drive double to left field with one out in the bottom of the third inning, and Meaghan Flynn walked.

With two outs, Smith scored on an error off the bat of Haley McCaig, then Flynn scampered home on a passed ball, and McCaig scored on an error on the play.

Smith doubled and singled and scored one run to pace Sayre at the plate, while McCaig singled and scored one run, Savanna Harbst added a single, and Flynn scored one run.

Olivia Corbin picked for Sayre, striking out four and walking one.

Megan Spohn stroked three singles, scored two runs, and collected three RBI, and Nikki Kiscadden had three hits, including a double, scored one run, and drove in two runs to pace NP-L’s 20-hit attack.

McKenna Lightner earned the win for NP-L. She allowed three runs — all unearned — on four hits, while striking out six and walking four.

Sayre, now 0-10, returns to action Monday at South Williamsport.
