SPENCER "” The Tioga girls and boys track & field teams opened their 2021 seasons Friday with losses to S-VE and Newfield.

GIRLS
S-VE 60, Tioga 59
Newfield 70, Tioga 51

Maria Nichols was a triple-winner, and Julia Walsh had three top-two finishes to pace Tioga's efforts Friday.

Nichols won the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 27-feet, 1-inch. Nichols won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 19.2 seconds, and Julia Walsh was second at 19.6 seconds.

Nichols also won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:21.6, and Walsh was second in 1:22.3.

Walsh won the pole vault at 7-feet.

Kate Burrowes won the long jump with a leap of 12-feet, 4 1/2-inches, and Jenna Smolinski was third at 11-feet, 10-inches. Kate Burrowes was third in the 200-meter dash in 34.7 seconds.

Faith Burrowes finished second in the discus with a toss of 51-feet, 11-inches.

Emma Jaye finished third in the 400-meter dash in 1:32.4. She was fourth in the high jump at 3-feet, 6-inches.

Smolinski was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 15.7 seconds.

BOYS
S-VE 87, Tioga 46
Newfield 59.5, Tioga 57.5

Senior Evan Hubbard was a triple-winner, and Valentino Rossi was a double-winner to pace Tioga's efforts Friday afternoon.

Hubbard won the 110-meter hurdles in 19.5 seconds. He also won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:10.7.

Hubbard finished second in the 200-meter dash in 26.4 seconds, and Matt Watson was third in 26.8 seconds.

Hubbard, Rossi, and Watson teamed with Chris Walsh to win the 400-meter dash in a time of 48.2 seconds.

Rossi won the 400-meter run in a time of 58.6 seconds, and Nate Jaye won the pole vault at 8-feet, 5-inches.

Watson finished second in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 33-feet, 9-inches.

Watson finished third in the long jump with a leap of 17-feet, 8 1/2-inches, and Rossi was fourth at 17-feet, 5-inches.

Chris Walsh finished second in the 100-meter dash in 12.3 seconds.

Cameron Boselli finished second in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:52.3. He finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:44.9.

Rossi finished third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-feet.
