VALLEY ASA SOFTBALL (MAJORS): MOONEY'S POUNDS OUT SEASON-OPENING, 19-8, WIN OVER TOWNSHIP POLICE (2021-05-05)

SAYRE "” Mooney's rallied from an early deficit for a 19-8 four-inning season-opening win over the Township Police Monday in Valley ASA Majors Division softball action.

The Township Police scored three runs in the top of the first, but Mooney's answered with five runs in the home half.

After the Township Police scored two runs in the top of the second inning to tie the game at 5-5, but Mooney's scored seven runs in the second and third innings to take a 19-5 lead.

The Township Police scored three runs in the top of the fourth, and the game was then called due to darkness

Alexis Roberts banged out four hits and scored one run to lead Mooney's at the plate, while Zoe Ward had two hits and scored three runs, Hanna Green singled and scored three runs, and Regan McDaniel singled and scored one run.

Layla Sullivan pitched three innings for Mooney's, allowing five runs on four hits, while striking out five and walking four.

Ciara Devine had three hits, including a double, and one run scored to lead the Township Police at the plate, while Cassidy Delaney doubled and scored one run, and Anya Horton, McKenna Parrish, Joelle Mullen, and Alexis Cocco each had one hit and one run scored.

Pitching duties for Township Police were shared by Isabell Repshur and Kylee Rogers.
