IAC JV BASEBALL: TIOGA ROLLS TO WINS OVER EDISON, NEWARK VALLEY (20 PHOTOS) (2021-06-08)

TIOGA CENTER — Shea Bailey, Karson Sindoni and Logan Roberts had four hits apiece to lead Tioga’s 23-hit barrage in a 23-3 win over Thomas A. Edison here Monday in IAC junior varsity baseball action.

Tioga scored in every inning en route to the win.

After Edison scored one run in the top of the first inning, Roberts tied the game with an RBI single in the home half of the inning, then Woodcock’s two-run triple gave the junior Tigers the lead for good.

Tioga scored five runs in the second inning to take an 8-1 lead. The rally featured two-run singles by Sindoni and Gavin Fisher, sandwiched around an RBI single by Roberts.

Edison scored in the top of the third, but Tioga with six runs in the home half to up its advantage to 14-2.

Sindoni stroked four singles, scored three runs, and had four RBI, while Bailey had four hits, including a double, scored runs, and drove in two runs, and Roberts had four singles, three runs scored, and two RBI.

Fisher had three hits, scored two runs and drove in four runs in the win, while ROught singled twice, scored three runs, and knocked in three runs, and Caden Bellis doubled and singled, scored twice, and drove in one run.

Macumber singled, scored one run, and had three RBI for the junior Tigers, while Woodcock tripled, scored one run, and knocked in two runs, Chapman doubled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, Deakon Bailey singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Ben Leary scored one run.

Chapman started on the mound for Tioga, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out four and walking six in 2 2/3 innings.

Sindoni relieved and pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed one hit, while striking out four and walking two.

Macumber finished off the game, retiring the side in order in the seventh inning with one strikeout.

Tioga, now 7-2, hosts Newark Valley Tuesday.

Tioga 20, Newark Valley 6

At Newark Valley, Tioga scored five runs in the top of the third inning to erase an early deficit, then pulled away for a 20-6 win over arch-rival Newark Valley Friday afternoon.

Trailing 4-2 after two innings, Tioga scored three runs on passed balls in the third inning, and two more on bases-loaded walks to Zac Kotsubka and Crew Macumber to take a 7-4 lead.

In the top of the fourth, Tioga scored six more runs to take a 13-4 lead. The rally featured RBI singles by Deakon Bailey and Cameron Rought, and an RBI double by Macumber.

After Newark Valley scored single runs in the home half of the fifth and sixth innings to draw within 13-6, the junior Tigers put the game away with seven runs in the seventh inning. The key blow in the inning was a two-RBI triple by Kotsubka.

Karson Sindoni had three hits, including a double, four runs scored, and one RBI to pace Tioga’s 14-hit attack, while Kotsubka tripled and singled, scored one run, and collected three RBI, Bailey was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and one RBI, and Gavin Fisher had two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.

Macumber doubled, scored one run, and drove in two runs in the win, while Shea Bailey singled and scored two runs, Rought and Frank Chapman each singled, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and Caden Bellis singled and scored one run.

Logan Roberts scored a pair of runs for the junior Tigers, while Jack Woodcock scored one run and drove in one run, and Josh Benjamin-Doyle and Ben Leary scored one run apiece.

Gavin Fisher started on the mound for Tioga and allowed four runs — only one earned — on two hits, while striking out six and walking two in two innings of work.

Rought pitched two innings of no-hit relief, striking out three and walking one, while Chapman pitched two innings, allowing two runs — one earned — on two hits, with four strikeouts and two walks.

Macumber pitched the seventh inning and struck out the side in order.
