Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The only game in town today is a big one as Waverly hosts Susquehanna Valley in the semifinals of the Section IV, Class B baseball playoffs. Game time is 5 p.m.

The Wolverines, now 15-4, are coming off a 9-1 win over Dryden Tuesday in the quarterfinals, while the Sabers, now 9-6, pounded out a 17-7 win over Oneonta Wednesday — avenging a loss from early May.

Both teams were able to get through their quarter-final match-ups without burning up their top pitchers.

Susquehanna Valley is expected to start its ace — 6-10 left-hander Nick Stilloe, who is 3-2 with a 2.35 ERA this season. He has 42 strikeouts and 19 walks in 32 1/3 innings.

Waverly ace Caden Hollywood, a slick lefty, is 6-0 with a 2.36 ERA. He has 23 strikeouts and 20 walks in 32 2/3 innings.

Susquehanna Valley has won four of its last five games. Early in the season, SV split a pair of decisions with top-seeded Windsor.

The Sabers averaged 8.9 runs per game this season, and scored in double-figures seven times.

Waverly has won four in a row, and six of its last seven.

The Wolverines have scored 9.7 runs per game, and have scored in double-figures nine times.

The winner will host the Class B title game Saturday.
