SAYRE LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): COOKE PITCHES JOHNNY D'S TO 2-1 WIN OVER TOWANDA-2 (2021-06-13)

SAYRE "” Brendan Cooke pitched five strong innings to help Johnny D's to a 2-1 win over Towanda-2 Thursday in the Little League Majors Division baseball action.

Cooke allowed one run on one hit, while striking out 15 and walking one. Justin Koenig pitched a perfect inning of relief to record the save, striking out two.

Brady Flynn was 3-for-3, and Cooke was 2-for-2 to account for Johnny D's hits. Fly had an RBI, and Cooke, and Jordan Brown each scored one run.

Johnny D's scored both its runs in the bottom of the third inning. With one out, Cooke reached on a single, and Jordan Brown worked a walk. With two outs, Cooke scampered home on a wild pitch, and Brown scored an RBI single by Flynn.

Towanda-2 trimmed the deficit with a run in the top of the fourth inning, using a walk, a stolen base, and a single.

Johnny D's loaded the bases without a hit in the bottom of the inning, but could not push a run across the plate.

Johnny D pitching retired the final seven Towanda-2 batters of the game to secure the win.
