ATHENS "” The Firemen scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on its way to a 9-5 win over Williams Toyota here Saturday night in the championship game of the Athens Little League Majors Division baseball playoffs.

The Firemen took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Connor Davidson, but Williams Toyota answered with two runs in the top of the fourth on a two-RBI single by Griffin Smith.

The Firemen's decisive rally included an RBI double by Graham Wanck, an RBI single by Wyatt Clink, and a two-run single by Matt Carlin that capped the eight-run onslaught.

Williams Toyota scored two runs in the fifth inning, and another in the sixth.

Carlin was 3-for-3 with one run scored, and one RBI, and Wanck doubled and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run to pace the Firemen's 11-hit attack, and Clink singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs.

Shea Davidson, Elih Birdsall, Connor Davidson, and Cartyr Cockcroft each singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the win, while Trent Williams singled and scored one run, and Noah Thompson scored one run, and knocked in one run.

Wanck earned the win, allowing two runs on two hits, while striking out 12 and walking one in four innings on the mound.

Connor Davidson finished off the game, allowing three runs - one earned - on two hits, while striking out six and walking three.

Smith singled twice, scored one run, and drove in two runs to pace Williams Toyota's six-hit attack, while Zach Fisher doubled and scored one run, Aiden Vanderpool singled and scored one run, Kamdyn Wheeler and Aydan Peterson each added a single, and Ryan Hicks and Jacob Saxon each scored one run.

Saxon was tagged with the tough-luck loss. He allowed nine runs - all unearned, thanks in large part to five errors - on seven hits, while striking out five and walking one in 3 2/3 innings. Hicks gave up three hits and struck out three in 1 1/3 innings of work.
