YOUTH BASEBALL: NICHOLS-TIOGA 10U, SAYRE 12U SEEK TITLES AT OWEGO TOURNAMENT (2021-07-12)

OWEGO - The Nichols-Tioga 10U and Sayre 12U teams will compete in the consolation finals at the Owego Little League 10U / 12U Tournament here this evening - weather permitting.

According to accuweather.com, thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Owego area around 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nichols-Tioga is scheduled to play at 5:30 p.m. while Sayre is slated to take the field at 7:45 p.m.

NTLL faces Owego (Schrader) in the 10C bracket and Sayre takes on Vestal in the 12B2 bracket of the double elimination tournament.

If Nichols-Tioga wins, it meets Johnson City Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the championship game. If necessary, a second game would be played at 7:45 p.m. Both NTLL and Owego went 2-0-1 in pool play and dropped one-run verdicts to JC in bracket play.

A Sayre victory would send the Valley entry to Tuesday's championship game against Maine-Endwell, also at 5:30 p.m. with "if necessary" game at 7:45 p.m. Sayre lost to Vestal twice, 7-0 in pool play and 3-2 in the double elimination bracket. M-E handed Sayre a 5-1 setback in pool play as well.
