NEW YORK STATE GIRLS SOCCER: WAVERLY'S PICCO NAMED SECOND-TEAM CLASS B ALL-STATE (2021-07-15)

Valley Sports Report
SYRACUSE "” Waverly grad Gabby Picco was recently received second-team Class B all-state recognition for the 2021 spring season, as selected by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports.

Selections were edited by Perry Novak, president and founder of NYSSCOGS. Four of the five classes in New York had first-team and second-team selections. Class D included only a first team.

Picco, a polished all-around player with a sky-high soccer IQ, "consistently controlled the midfield and made all her teammates better."

In her five seasons on varsity, PIcco played nearly every position on the field.

This season, she scored six goals and had one assist to give her 60 goals and 39 assists in her career.

In the fall, Picco will play Division 1 soccer at LaSalle.

The Section 4 first-team selections both played for Oneonta: senior forward Hannah Johnson and senior midfielder Anika Buzzy.

Second-team all-state honors also went to Chenango Valley senior midfielder Kerri Hayes, and Norwich senior midfielder Sydney Coggins.
