YOUTH WRESTLING: SIX TIOGA STANDOUTS, COACH HEADING TO NATIONALS (2021-07-16)

FARGO, N.D. - Defending New York state champion Gianni Silvestri headlines a star-studded cast of Tioga wrestlers who will be competing in the USA Wrestling U.S. Marine Crops Junior and 16-under National Championships here.

Silvestri, who won a Division II state championship in 2020, will be joined by state placers Caden Bellis and Mason Welch, state qualifier Donavan Smith, Levi Bellis and former SVEC standout Ousmane Duncanson, who has transferred to Tioga.

The Southern Tier team will be coached by Tioga's Kris Harrington and recently retired Chenango Forks coach Rick Gumble.

Also qualifying from the Southern Tier are Bainbridge-Guilford/Harpursville/Afton's Darren Florence, Corning's Charles Loucks, Forks' Logan Gumble and Tyler Ferrara, Horseheads' Zach Levey, and Windsor's Gabe Monroe.

Wrestlers will compete in men's and women's freestyle, and Greco-Roman. The Junior tournament is open to wrestlers 18-and-under.

The event begins Saturday at the Fargodome and runs through July 24.
