ATHENS "” Trey Porter tossed a complete game, and hit a home run to lead Tri-Valley to a 4-1 win over Athens here Saturday afternoon in the first elimination game of the double-elimination Section 3 Little League Majors Division baseball playoffs.

Porter allowed just two hits - a one-out double in the fourth inning by Connor Davidson, and a lead-off home run in the fifth inning by Alex McQuay. He fanned nine and walked two.

Tri-Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on back-to-back singles by Anson Lenker and Lucas Schwartz, and an RBI double by Cayne Schadel. Athens starter Duncan Thetga retired the next three batters to strand the runners at second and third.

Peyton Schley led off the top of the third inning with a single, and Porter made it 3-0 with a two-run blast over the left field fence.

McQuay led off the home half of the fifth inning with a shot over the center-field fence to trim the deficit to 3-1, but Porter struck out the next two Athens batters, and retired Brycen Wood on a fly ball to center field to end the inning.

Tri-Valley answered with a run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Trent Mowery.

Porter retired Athens in order in the home half of the sixth inning.

Duncan Thetga was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs - all earned - on 10 hits. He struck out eight and walked none.

Porter homered and doubled, scored one run, and drove in two runs, while Mowery singled twice and drove in one run, and Schley doubled and singled, and scored one run to pace Tri-Valley's 10-hit attack.
