VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY WRIGHT NAMED SUPER 7 MALE 'ATHLETE OF THE FALL' (2021-07-29)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY "" Waverly senior Collin Wright capped a brilliant cross country career with a strong showing at the Section Championships, one that would have earned him a return trip to States. For that, he is the 2020-21 Valley Sports Report Male "Athlete of the Fall."
Wright, now a four-time winner of the "Runner of the Year," consistently led the Wolverines in dual meets and invitationals. He finished seventh at the Section IV Championships.
Wright won gold at the IAC Large School Divisional meet, and at the overall IAC Championships.
Wright will run at Division I Binghamton University this fall.

Emmett Wood, junior, Tioga: Wood has a rare mixture of size, speed, and power for Class D football. He ran for 1,280 yards and 13 TDs. Wood also led the Tigers in tackles on the other side of the ball.
He was the Football "Player of the Year," and "Offensive Player of the Year."
Mason Hughey, junior, Sayre: Hughey utilized his speed, strong leg, and soccer IQ to score 29 goals and dish out four assists.
Hughey was the Soccer "Player of the Year," and "Offensive Player of the Year" honors.
Cole Williams, senior, Tioga: Williams, a second-team all-state offensive lineman as a junior, cleared the way for a Tioga offense that averaged more than 300 yards per game on the ground. He was also a force on the defensive line, demanding double teams on nearly every down.
Williams was a repeat winner of the "Lineman of the Year" award.
Connor Dahl, senior, Athens: Dahl finished fourth at the NTL Coaches Invite. He was 13th at the District 4, Class AA Championships. After finishing third to Kyle Anthony and Matt Gorsline in a season-opening win over Towanda, Dahl finished first for the remainder of the regular season.
Asher Ellis, senior, Athens: Long and extremely athletic, Ellis was in net for seven shutouts, and allowed just 10 goals in the 14 games.
Shayne Reid, junior, Athens: A dynamic running back, Reid ran for 607 yards and seven TDs in seven games, and was second on the team with 20 receptions for 159 yards and one TD. He was third on the team in tackles.
