VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S HOUSEKNECHT HEADLINES SUPER 7 AS 2021 'BOWLER OF THE YEAR' (2021-08-02)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY "” Sophomore Victoria Houseknecht was tops in nearly every IAC girls bowling category this season, and led Waverly to an unbeaten regular-season, and a season-ending league championship to earn the 2021 Valley Sports Report "Bowler of the Year" honors.

Victoria Houseknecht carries an IAC-best 205 average, and also rolled the season-high series of 729, and the high game of the season with a 298.

She earned a silver medal at IAC Championships to help Waverly to the team title.

(With just Waverly and Tioga fielding bowling teams, the All-Valley team is co-ed.)

The 2021 All-Valley Bowling team:
Zach Vanderpool, sophomore, Waverly:
Vanderpool could have easily been selected as "Bowler of the Year." He was second in the IAC with a 226 average, and bowled an IAC record 834 series, which included an IAC season-high game of 289.

Vanderpool's record series, and high game were rolled at the IAC Championships to earn a gold medal, and help the Wolverines to a third-place finish.

Kolton Pond, senior, Tioga:  Pond, a former VSR "Bowler of the Year," finished fifth in IAC with 197 average. His high series (696) and high game (258) were rolled at the IAC Championships to earn a silver medal, and help the Tigers to a team title.

Rachel Houseknecht, freshman, Waverly: Rachel Houseknecht posted the second-best record for the IAC girls at 192. She had the high series in the IAC (674) for six days until her sister broke it. She rolled a high game of 245.

She won the gold medal at the IACs to lead Waverly to a team title.

Dylan Slater, sophomore, Tioga: Slater finished sixth in the IAC with 196 average. He had a 674 high series and a 276 high game - both at the IAC Championships to earn a bronze medal.

Gage Cain, sophomore, Tioga: Cain finished seventh in the IAC with a 194 average. He rolled a 692 high series and a 278 high game this season. He finished 12th at the IACs.

Rocco Fariello, junior, Tioga: Fariello was ninth in the IAC with s 189 average. He rolled a 690 high series and a 276 high game - both at the IACs to earn a fourth-place medal.
