NEW YORK STATE FOOTBALL: TIOGA, WAVERLY MAINTAIN RANKS IN LATEST STATE RANKINGS (2021-09-23)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY "” Tioga's and Waverly's ranks remain unchanged in the most recent New York State Sportswriters Association high school football rankings.
CLASS DTioga, now 2-0, remains second, behind two-time defending state champion Clymer / Sherman / Panama, which is 3-0.
Section V's Avon (3-0), Section VI's Randolph (3-0), and Section I's Tuckahoe (2-0) are ranked third through fifth, respectively.
Section IV's Harpursville-Afton (2-0) and Delhi (2-0) are ranked 11th and 14th, respectively, while Newark Valley (1-1) is an honorable mention.
CLASS CWaverly remains 14th in the Class C rankings, with Chenango Forks (1-1) and Norwich (3-0) ranked sixth and 11th, respectively.
The top five spots are occupied by Section VI's Medina (3-0), Section III's Skaneateles (2-), Section II's Schuylerville (3-0), Section VI's Akron (3-0) and Section I's Valhalla (2-0).
Oneonta (2-0) and Susquehanna Valley (1-1) are both honorable mention.
OTHERS IN SECTION IV"¢ Maine-Endwell (2-0) is ranked No. 1 in the Class B rankings, with Windsor (2-0) ranked 19th.
"¢ SVEC (2-0) is ranked second in the 8-man football rankings, with Greene (2-0) seventh, and Groton (2-0) 10th. ... Lansing (1-1), Newfield (1-1), and Trumansburg (2-0) are honorable mentions.
"¢ Corning (2-0) is ranked 20th in the Class AA rankings. ... Elmira (1-1) is an honorable mention.
"¢ Horseheads (2-0) and Union-Endicott (2-0) are honorable mentions in the Class A rankings.
