UTICA — Tioga grad Kurstan Martin, a senior on the Utica College volleyball team, helped the Lady Pioneers to back-to-back wins that snapped a four-game losing streak.

In a 3-2 win at Keuka College on Sept. 25, Martin had nine service points, including one ace, eight kills, and four digs.

On Friday, Martin had 5.5 points, five kills, and nine digs in a home sweep of Cazenovia College.

For the season, Martin is tied for the team lead in service points with 157.5 points, including 12 service aces. She is second on the team with 135 kills, third on team with 15 blocks, and fourth on team with 101 digs. She also has six setter assists.

Martin’s best match of the season was in a win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in which she had a season-high 19.5 points, including a season-best four aces, and a season-high 15 kills. She had a season-best 14 digs against Norwich, and a season-best four blocks against Houghton College.

Utica College, now 5-10, returns to action tonight at Russell Sage College.
