IAC VOLLEYBALL: TIOGA REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH SWEEP OF WATKINS GLEN (2021-10-06)
Valley Sports ReportWATKINS GLEN "" Tioga continued its unbeaten ways here Wednesday night with a sweep of Waktins Glen in IAC volleyball action.
The Lady Tigers, now 9-0, won by scores of 25-13, 25-12, and 25-14.
Junior Hailey Browne led Tioga with 13 service points, including five aces, and five digs, while senior Julia Bellis had seven points (three aces), two kills, and four digs, senior Mariah Nichols had seven points (two aces), two kills, and five digs, and senior Nina Spano registered 11 kills.
Sophomore Lily Mesler doled out 18 setter assists in the win, while junior Reese Howey had five points (three aces), five kills, two blocks, and five digs, and junior Kyra Bailey added seven points.
Senior Austyn Vance had three points - all aces - for the Lady Tigers, while senior Molly Bombard had five assists and three digs, and senior Emme Hall chipped in with three kills.
Melanie Wysocki led Watkins Glen with seven points (four aces) and two kills.
Tioga returns to action Friday at Candor.
JV: Tioga won the junior varsity match, 2-1. The junior Tigers won the first set 25-14, and closed out the match with a 25-13 win. In between, Watkins Glen won a 25-23 decision in the second set.
Layni Whitmore led Tioga with nine points, two kills, three blocks, and two digs, while Megan Vance had nine points and four kills, Joslyn Maciak had five points, two kills, and 10 assists, RaeAnne Feeko had three points and eight assists, Emily Bidwell added two points, seven kills, and one block, and Sadie Parker chipped in with three kills.
