MEN'S COLLEGE SWIMMING: WAVERLY GRAD ATANASOFF WINS THREE EVENTS IN FIRST MEET AT RIT (2021-10-10)

Mike Atanasoff, a sophomore on the RIT men's swim team, earned three wins - and narrowly missed a fourth - in his first collegiate meet here, helping the Tigers to a season-opening, 193-105, win over RPI.
Atanasoff, whose freshman season was canceled due to the Covid lockdown, won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.9 seconds. He finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.64 seconds, just .02 seconds off the winning pace of RPI's Mike Dowd.
Atansaoff swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay, which clocked in at 1:35.14. He saw the closing 50-yard freestyle leg in 21.55 seconds.
He also swam on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay, swimming the anchor leg in 48.23 seconds. The RIT foursome won in a time of 3:12.66.
RIT returns to action Saturday at Alfred University.
