THE VALLEY "" Tioga and Sayre are in action today to close out the first weekend of postseason football action, while Tioga squares off with Candor in the Class D volleyball finals, and the Waverly girls swim teams competes for Section IV hardware.

FOOTBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class D Semifinals
Tioga (7-0) vs. Delhi (5-3), noon @ Johnson City H.S.:
The Tigers have been off since its 61-8 win over B-G in Week 7 after its game with Deposit-Hancock last week was canceled, while the Bulldogs dropped a 22-14 decision to Harpursville-Afton.

Tioga has outscored its opponents by an average of 47.7 to 7.3 points per game, while Delhi has outscored its foes by an average of 22.5 to 17.1 points per game.

Tioga beat the other three Class D playoff games by an average of 44.7 points, while Delhi was 0-3 against those playoff teams, losing by an average of 25.3 points.

The Tigers blanked the Bulldogs, 55-0, in their regular-season match-up.

District 4 Playoffs
Class AA Quarterfinals
6-Sayre (5-5) at 3-Troy (7-3), 7 p.m. @ Alparon Park:
The Redskins are coming off a bitter 7-6 home loss to Athens, while the Trojans were thumped, 36-0, by Canton in the "Old Shoe" game.

Sayre has dropped three in a row, while Troy had won seven out of eight until the Canton loss. The lone loss was a 22-21 decision at Sayre in Week 8.

Sayre has outscored its opponents 27.1 to 20.4 points per game this season, while Troy has outscored it foes 24.4 to 11.3.

VOLLEYBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class D Finals
2-Tioga (16-2) vs. 1-Candor (17-1), 4 p.m. @ Corning H.S.:
The Tigers and Indians square off for the fifth time this season, this time for all the marbles.

Tioga won their initial meeting of the season, but Candor won the next two, including a divisional playoff for the IAC South Small School title. All three matches went five sets.

On Thursday, Candor won the Class D semi-final pool play with a 5-1 record, closing out the night with a sweep of Tioga, which finished second with a 4-2 mark.

GIRLS SWIMMING
Section IV Swim Championships, 10 a.m.:
The Lady Wolverines have 12 entries in the eight individual events, and will also have all three relays in action.

Eighth-grader Mira Kittle, who had four top-four finishes in Wednesday Class B preliminaries, seniors Lourden benjamin, Willow Sharpsteen, and Delaney Vascoe, and junior Sophia DeSisti all advanced in four events.
