TIFFIN, Ohio - Athens grad Chris Horton, a senior on the RIT wrestling team,  won the 141-pound title in the White Division at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open here Sunday, while senior Kaidon Winters finished fifth and junior Austin Lamb was eighth in the rugged Gold Division, which includes Division I, II and III grapplers.

Horton opened the tournament with a 9-2 decision over Toledo's De'Ante Evans, and followed it up with a 58-second fall over Heidelberg's Kyle Fanson.

In the semifinals, Horton edged Tiffin's Elijah Hunter, 8-7. Horton took home the 141-pound gold with a 7-3 decision over Notre Dame College's Matthew Kaufmann.

Winters, ranked No. 1 in the nation at 157 pounds in Division III, opened Gold Division action with a 1-0 win over Kent State's Aaron Ferguson, then dropped a 5-1 decision to Ohio State's Isaac Wilcox.

In the consolation bracket, Winters edged Notre Dame College's Allesandro Ramirez, 1-0, and followed it up with a fall of West Liberty's Christian Rivera in 4:25.

Winters was set for a rematch with Ferguson in the fifth place-match, but received a medical forfeit.

Lamb, wrestling at 165 pounds, opened the day with a pin of Mercyhurst's Dom Ferranti in 1:54, then forged a 12-4 major decision over Kent State's Ian Senz.

In the quarterfinals, Lamb dropped a 12-0 decision to top-seeded Jack Blumer of West Virginia.

In his first consolation bracket match, Lamb blanked Ohio University's Kamal Adewumi, 7-0, but dropped a 7-6 decision to Tiffin's Bryan LaVearn in the consolation semifinals, and fell to Ohio State's Cade Hepner in the seventh-place match.

RIT returns to action Saturday at the New York State Collegiate Championships at SUNY Cortland.
