MANSFIELD "” Waverly grad Scott Woodring, a freshman on the Mansfield University men's basketball team, matched his career-high in points in two of the last three games, including the Mounties first win of the season against Mercy College.

Woodring scored 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting from the field, and pulled down nine rebounds, including four on the offensive glass to help Mansfield to a 79-61 home win over Mercy Wednesday.

On Friday, Woodring had six points (3 of 5 from the field), four rebounds and one assist in an 82-67 home loss to Slippery Rock.

On Saturday, Woodring scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, including four offensive caroms in a 101-97 double-overtime loss to Edinboro. He also had one assist and one steal, and fouled out for the first time in his collegiate career.

In eight games, all starts, Woodring is averaging 9 points, and 6.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting 44.3 percent from the field, and has seven assists, four blocked shots, and three steals.

Mansfield, now 1-7, returns to action Dec. 14 at Mercyhurst.
