NTL BASKETBALL: FAST START PROPELS WYALUSING TO 68-37 WIN OVER SAYRE (2022-01-14)
Valley Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing jumped out to a big lead early, and cruised to a 68-37 win over Sayre here Friday night in NTL boys basketball action.
Blake Morningstar and Grady Cobb combined for 14 points in the first quarter to help the Rams to a 24-8 lead after the first eight minutes.
Sayre senior Dom Fabbri, who hit a 3-pointer in the first quarter, scored nine points in the second quarter, but Wyalusing outscored the Redskins, 19-11, to increase their lead to 43-19 at the half.
Wyalusing outscored Sayre in the third and fourth quarters as well, despite 12 more points by Fabbri.
Fabbri led Sayre with 24 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and senior Kannon VanDuzer added six points.
Morningstar led Wyalusing with 21 points, while Cobb scored 12, and Kashawn Cameron and Isaiah Way added 11 points apiece.
Sayre, now 2-9, travels to Sullivan County for a non-league game Monday.
