THE VALLEY - The 2022 spring season roars to life and is in high gear in its first full week of action on both sides of the border.

There are 35 events on the docket this week, including 10 on a jam-packed Monday, and seven on Wednesday.

The following are some, not all, of this week’s events:

MONDAY (10)
• Waverly softball is on the road at Tioga in the season-opener for both teams.

• Sayre hosts Canton in a key early-season NTL Small School baseball battle.

• Tioga baseball hosts Newark Valley in the first of a three-game series between the IAC rivals.

• Sayre softball hosts Canton at Riverfront Park.

TUESDAY (4)
• The Waverly teams open their season at home against IAC rival Notre Dame.

• The Sayre track teams host NEB in its season opener.

• Waverly tennis opens its 2022 campaign at home against Newark Valley.

WEDNESDAY (7)
• Waverly baseball plays the second game in a three-game series this week at home against Watkins Glen / O-M. The Wolverines play at WGOM Monday and Friday.

• Sayre hosts District 4, Class AA baseball rival Muncy at Riverfront Park.

• Waverly tennis is home for the second day in a row, this time hosting Trumansburg.

THURSDAY (3)
• Waverly hosts Notre Dame in an IAC Large School softball match-up.

• Waverly tennis is home for the third straight day, this time hosting Moravia.

FRIDAY (6)
• Athens hosts Wellsboro in a key early-season NTL Large School baseball contest.

• Tioga baseball hosts Newark Valley to wrap up the three-game series.

• Tioga softball hosts IAC Small School rival Candor.

SATURDAY (5)
• Sayre and Athens baseball square off for the first time this season at PNC Field in Scranton. Game time is 1 p.m.

• Waverly baseball travels to Williamsport for its fourth road game in five outings this week.

• Athens softball hosts NTL Large School rival Troy.
