IAC SOFTBALL: TIOGA ROLLS TO 20-0 WIN OVER NEWFIELD (2022-04-06)

NEWFIELD — Tioga pounded out 20 hits, including five by senior Abby Foley, in a five inning, 20-0, win over Newfield here Wednesday afternoon in IAC South Small School Division softball action.

The Lady Tigers, now 2-0, scored three runs in the first inning, and four more in the second to take a 7-0. After five runs in the third to extend their lead to 12-0, they scored four runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Foley was 5-for-5 with five runs scored and three RBI, while 8th-grader RaeAnne Feeko had three hits, including a triple and a double, five runs scored, and six RBI, and freshman McKenzie Williams had three hits, including a triple and a double, one run scored, and two RBI.

M.J. Thetga rapped two doubles, scored two runs, and collected three RBI in the win, while senior Molly Bombard singled twice, scored three runs, and drove in one run, and senior Alissa Hine singled, scored twice, and drove in one run,

Freshman Erin Luther singled and knocked in one run for the Lady Tigers, while sophomore Megan Vance and senior Julia Bellis each singled and scored one run, and senior Austyn Vance added a single.

Hine earned the win for Tioga, allowing two hits in three shutout innings, while striking out five and walking one.

Luther closed out the game, striking out six in two innings of perfect relief.

Tioga returns to action Friday when it hosts Candor.
