IAC TRACK & FIELD: WALSH, WATSON LEAD TIOGA AT SOUTH'S SMALL SCHOOL MEET (24 PHOTOS) (2022-05-10)

ODESSA - Seniors Julia Walsh and Matt Watson were double-winners to pace Tioga non-scoring IAC South Small School Divisional track & field meet.

Tioga coach Eric Gutierrez said he rested many of his athletes.

"We had three meets last week, and really tried to keep it light tonight, so there were a lot of holes in the line-up.

"We are trying to ease off, and rest up for the seasons ramp up these next weeks," said Gutierrez.

BOYS
Freshman Andrew Earley joined Watson as the only winners of individual events for the Tigers on the day, while the Tigers also won one relay.

Senior Matt Watson won the triple jump with a mark of 37-feet, 6-inches.

Watson teamed with senior Chris Walsh, and sophomores Ousmane Duncanson and Valentino Rossi to win the 400-meter relay in a time of 46.4 seconds.

Earley won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18.7 seconds. He also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.6.

Freshman Isaiah Fore finished third in the pole vault at 8-feet.

Chris Walsh finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.2 seconds, and sophomore Jake Browne was sixth in 12.6 seconds.

Senior Colt Herella finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 84-feet, 5-inches, and Duncanson finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 25.2 seconds.

Smith finished sixth in the long jump at 14-feet, 7-inches, while senior Josh Snell finished sixth in the shot put with a heave of 33-feet, 1-inch.

GIRLS
Julia Walsh won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:08.3. She also won the pole vault at 8-feet.

Freshman Erica Bradley finished second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:50.6, and senior Mariah NIchols was second in the triple jump at 30-feet, 10-inches.

Freshman Emily Burrowes placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 20.2 seconds. She finished sixth in the long jump at 12-feet, 3-inches.

Freshman Elyse Haney finished third in the 100-meter dash in 13.6 seconds. Haney was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 30.0 seconds, and sophomore Lily Mesler placed sixth in 30.7 seconds.

Alex Creller finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 65-feet, 3-inches.

Sophomore Emma Jaye finished fifth in the high jump at 3-feet, 10-inches.

Tioga returns to action next week at the IAC Championships.
